Farm workers in Galilee were mostly Jews who worked in the fields owned by foreigners whom they hated deeply. at times they killed their masters and took possession of the land. Jesus disapproves of violence in fighting injustice and oppression. He also disapproves of Israel who rejected the prophets and even the Son. Because they did this, the role assigned to them in plan of salvation is taken from them and given to others. Jesus towards the end of the Gospel reading refers to himself as the corner stone rejected by the builders. In our lives we must not reject Jesus but build our lives on him as the corner stone of lives as christians.
